Exercise Routine

I recently decided that going from 191 to 200 lbs between Thanksgiving and New Year was not good and I needed to get back into shape. I had started exercising a little before that but I didn’t really have a clear goal in mind or a workout routine to fit it. The past three weeks I’ve been running, doing sit ups, pushups, and squats. I need somewhere to do pull ups but I haven’t found anything yet.

The workout routine I’m using is one that I’ve started before with amazing results. It’s the workout recommended for people who want to try out for the Navy SEALs. The SEAL training school is called Basic Underwater Demolition/SEAL Training (BUD/S). The actual workout comes from the BUD/S Warning Order in the Suggested Student Preparation section. You may have to register for a free account to get access to this material.

There are two categories (I fall into Category I right now) – one for not so in shape people and one for people who have high school athletic experience (I read this to mean football or equivalent workouts). The nice thing about this is that it’s a 9 week schedule with good results and time tested improvement scales.

I’m on week three right now (meaning I have to take a break from my running to avoid stress injuries) but I’ve already seen improvement in weight loss, muscle building, endurance, and strength. What workout routines work for you? Is there anywhere in Bryan or College Station with affordable access to a swimming pool? I’d like to hear suggestions on where to go after I complete the second category.
